Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District has two - 20 hrs/week temporary positions available. These 2 positions are each 20 hrs/week for a maximum of twelve weeks. Hiring date between May 1 - September 1, 2013. This position must be part of the student’s co-op/internship class in which students are currently enrolled.
§ Assist in staffing public event displays on weekends and evenings
§ Prep displays and give-a-ways for these events
§ Inventory materials and put them away after events
§ Assist Stream Specialist in collecting stream data in field
§ Do data entry of stream information on either Excel or Access spreadsheets
§ Possibly provide public education presentation
§ Other duties as assigned
§ Currently taking coursework to attain or possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental sciences, engineering, education or other related field.
§ A direct working knowledge of conservation issues as they apply to soil & water.
§ Knowledge of the USEPA - NPDES Phase II Storm Water Rules and experience in water quality data collection preferred.
§ Ability to communicate in a professional, accurate and enthusiastic manner.
§ Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office - particularly Microsoft Excel or Access.
§ Experience working with Geographic Information Systems and ArcView is a plus.
§ Work well within a team: respect and support initiative of others; communicate in a timely and candid manner with team members.
§ Ability to lift at least 25 lbs., capable of strenuous hiking on rough terrain and working in streams and rivers.
§ Be available on most weekends and some evenings.
§ Have a Valid Driver’s license and Automobile insurance.
§ References, transcripts and writing samples should be provided upon request.
Hourly salary - $12.00. Deadline for application - April 22, 2013.
