Soil Stabilization

Seeding & Mulching

Establishing vegetation is by far the most effective erosion control practice. Applying a protective layer of mulch, usually straw, to bare soils and in conjunction with seeding, abate erosion by shielding it from raindrop impact. The mulch helps establish vegetation by conserving moisture and creating favorable conditions for the seed to germinate.

Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding combines hydromulching with seeding. Hydromulch slurry is applied using a special equipment to spray the area to be stabilized. The slurry contains the seed and the tackifier that help bind the seed into the soil and retain moisture. Fertilizer is also mixed with the slurry. This method is used when seeding is to be applied on steep slopes and over difficult to access or very wide areas.
