Meeting Minutes

     

January 30, 2003

PLANNING - FUTURE MISSION AND GOALS OF THE WET WEATHER INITIATIVE

Progress by the County in forming a Storm Water District to address NPDES Phase II requirements for participating jurisdictions within the County promises to fulfill one of the objectives of the Wet Weather Initiative and requires reassessment of our Mission and Goals. Attached is a draft of a new Mission, Goal and Action statement prepared by participants in this
planning session of the WWIN for your consideration and comment.

Strategies for implementation of the new Goals will be discussed at the next WWIN meeting on February 27, 2003.

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

* The Watershed Signage Sub-committee has grown into a separate tri-state initiative requiring formation of a new, broader based organization involving watersheds in neighboring counties in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The Education Committee of WWIN will continue to support watershed signage within Hamilton County in collaboration with the new organization.

* Upcoming events:

  • Waterfest will be held at the Cincinnati Convention Center on March 18, 2003. Eighteen hundred 4th and fifth graders are expected to participate.
  • The OKI Regional Conservation Council will hold a meeting on March 31, 2003 at the Campbell County Soil & Water Conservation District Office.
  • The Hamilton County NRAC (District 2) deadline for proposal submission is March 3, 2003. Contact Joe Cottrell at the Hamilton County Engineers office for more information (946-8900). For a rating criteria and a grant application go to http://www.hamilton-co.org/engineer/nrac.htm.
