Welcome to Storm Water!
What is Stormwater?
Stormwater as defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency, is runoff, snow melt runoff, and surface runoff and drainage. The runoff and drainage caused by precipitation, in any form, that flows over surfaces is considered storm water.
Stormwater runoff is typically recognized as the largest pollutant to our waterways in the United States, both rural and urban. Hamilton County’s landscape being both rural and urban is greatly impacted by storm water runoff. The Phase II permit addresses these issues by implementing the six Minimum Control Measures (MCMs) and the associated Best Management Practices (BMPs).
