Learn to grow and raise your own food

The Hamilton County Conservation District is offering free winter classes on raising Backyard Chickens and growing Microgreens & Sprouts. Join us at one of these branches of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library

Backyard Chickens
Discover the delights and challenges of raising chickens for home egg production. Winter is the best time to plan for your new flock. Resource handouts will be available to take home. In the meantime, learn what the rules are around raising chickens in your jurisdiction here.

Microgreens & Sprouts
You can enjoy fresh microgreens and sprouts grown indoors during winter months while outdoor gardens take a break. This how-to program includes ideas for adding these nutrient-rich ingredients to your meal planning. Taste a few different types of microgreens and sprouts and take home your very own jar to get sprouting!

The Hamilton County Conservation District is a legal subdivision of the State of Ohio responsible for the conservation of natural resources within Hamilton County, Ohio. We have a special emphasis on soil and water with a focus on assisting landowners in planning and applying conservation practices on the land. HCCD is dedicated to the sustainable use of our natural resources and to encouraging positive behavioral changes that produce a higher quality of life for our citizens. The District assists all Hamilton County residents, schools and jurisdictions through our free services and dynamic partnerships that continually provide innovative solutions for the challenges of our region.
