Watershed Management in Hamilton County

Key Programs:

Watershed Planning                 The Demonstration Watershed                 Regional Leadership

Watershed Planning:

HCCD provides leadership and technical assistance in watershed-scale planning and mitigation efforts to address the most pressing water resource problems in Hamilton County.
  • HCCD is currently leading in-depth watershed planning efforts in the Cooper Creek Watershed (within the Mill Creek Watershed) as well as the Upper Dry Fork watershed (within the Whitewater River watershed).  In addition to planning we are leading efforts to implement mitigation strategies identified in the planning process.
  • We have also provided technical assistance in the creation on many other "nine-element" watershed plans in the county that have been approved by Ohio EPA and U.S. EPA.  These watershed plans are focused on addressing in-stream water quality and biological impairments in the County.
  • Additionally, we are currently in the early stages of leading a planning effort to mitigate flooding and drainage problems and build climate resilience across the county.  Check back for more information as this process continues through 2023.
