What is AmeriCorps?

AmeriCorps provides opportunities for Americans of all backgrounds to serve their country, address the nation's most pressing challenges and improve lives and communities.
America was founded in a promise of opportunity. When we build stronger communities, we help make this promise a reality, for every individual to succeed. Especially in times of adversity, we find the courage to unite and overcome. Helping our communities prosper, head on and together. It's what AmeriCorps is built for: bringing all Americans together. Working alongside each other for the betterment of every community. Ensuring that everyone gets the help they need and the opportunities they deserve. AmeriCorps is your chance to be a part of something bigger.
This program is available to all without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, marital or family/parental status, political affiliation or military service.

What is the ORBCorps Program?

The Ohio River Basin AmeriCorps (ORBCorps) program has been formed to address the issue of poor water quality in Southwest Ohio. Hamilton County Conservation District has partnered with Clermont Soil and Water Conservation District and the Mill Creek Alliance to form the ORBCorps program. We are committed to natural resource protection and our AmeriCorps members  will help expand our collective education, outreach and data collection efforts to continue to push for cleaner water and better educated residents. At the same time, AmeriCorps members will develop skills that help prepare them for employment as natural resource or water quality professionals. ORBCorps is a program of ServeOhio, Ohio's Commission on Service and Volunteerism and AmeriCorps, the federal agency for volunteering, service and civic engagement.

The ORBCorps program focuses on four major activities.

Stewardship: Improving water and soil health is at the core of our mission and members will help collect and gather data to determine best management practices throughout the area.
Conservation: Depending on the position, members will help collect and analyze data, plant trees and other native plants, remove invasive species, organize littler clean-ups, present education programs and so much more.
Education: Some members will work with adult groups, while others will focus on k-12 education in our schools and libraries.
Capacity Building: Members are critical to help expand our conservation message and engage more residents in conservation practices.  Members will garner and improve their skills and knowledge to become true environmental stewards.
