Soil Fertility Testing Kit

We partner with PennState Extension to provide soil testing services to Hamilton County, Ohio Residents.

Test kits are free to pick up or request from us, but there is a $9 fee for the service that is directly payable to
​PennState Extension.

Due to Supply Chain issues, the normal PennState Soil Test, Soil Sample Bags will not be available for some time.  Until they are available PennState is accepting Soil Samples in a zip style plastic bag.  The zip style bag will need the following   information written on it:
  • Name:
  • Sample ID or Field Name:

 The PennState Extension Soil Test Order Form must be included with the soil sample sent in the plastic bag.
  • Collect the sample in the same manor as noted on the Soil Sampling Instructions.
  • Allow sample to air dry before placing in the zip style bag.
  • Place approximately one (1) cup of dry soil in the zip style plastic bag.
Mail both the soil sample, completed order form, and check for test to Penn State at the address listed on the order form

​As part of this program,  test results generated for a Hamilton County, Ohio Residents will also become available to the District to provide free consultation to the resident. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

The Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District is a legal subdivision of the State of Ohio responsible for the conservation of natural resources within Hamilton County, Ohio. We have a special emphasis on soil and water with a focus on assisting landowners in planning and applying conservation practices on the land. HCSWCD is dedicated to the sustainable use of our natural resources and to encouraging positive behavioral changes that produce a higher quality of life for our citizens. The District assists all Hamilton County residents, schools and jurisdictions through our free services and dynamic partnerships that continually provide innovative solutions for the challenges of our region.
